Questions

Engraved Breaker Labels, Answered

Still unsure? Call 289-275-9572 or send your schedule through the quote form below.

How do I label a breaker box?

Turn on every light and outlet, then switch breakers off one at a time and note what goes dark. Give each breaker its circuit number and load (CCT 14 KITCHEN COUNTER, RTU-1), mark spares as SPARE, and use red for anything that must stay on. Then engrave the list so it outlives the pencil on the door.

What should a breaker label say?

The circuit number or numbers, and what the breaker feeds: RTU-1, LP-2A, EV CHARGER 1. For feeders and mains add the rating and where it is fed from. The Canadian Electrical Code (Rule 2-100) asks for every circuit to be identified, and an engraved tag is the label that is still readable at the next inspection.

What is a lamacoid breaker label?

A lamacoid is a two-ply engraving laminate: a coloured top layer over a contrasting core. The laser cuts through the top layer to expose the core, so the lettering is part of the tag instead of ink or vinyl sitting on top of it. No fading, no peeling, no smudged marker.

Which colour should breaker labels be?

Black with white letters is the usual standard for breaker and panel ID. Red is used for fire alarm, emergency and do-not-turn-off circuits, and in data centres blue and red mark the A and B feeds. Follow your spec where it names colours; every stocked pair is available.

How fast can I get breaker labels?

Most orders are cut the same day you approve the artwork proof. Pick up free in Burlington, or ship anywhere in Canada by Canada Post.

Can you label a whole panel or data hall from my schedule?

Yes. Send the panel schedules or one-line through the quote form and we engrave every label as a matched set, one size and one letter height, sorted by panel or room.

Is there a minimum order?

No. Order one label or a few hundred. Standard shipping is free on orders of $200 or more before tax.
